The Armies of Legarion

Vikings

The Northmen are a civilisation of tough warriors.

A wide, cold sea seperates the country of the Lion knights and that of their ally and tradepartner. The people of the North live on rocky islands rich in iron ore of the best quality, but with barren soil. The harsh climate and rough winters make it so the Norhtmen bring forth the touchest and most resilent warriors in the known world.

Tales and legends about their history tell us that the Vikings ancestors lived on their islands for thousands of years. They battled legendary beasts and massive sea serpents and dragons. Their ships were equiped with machines of war of designs that are long lost to time.

Now these fierce warriors still live in villages accross the shores of their lands, where they live of the trade and the spoils of their rich mines. There has been no all out war between them and any main land nations for decades, but they have never given up on their warrior ways.

Viking Army

Army structure and equipment

Vikings don't care for structure and organization. They fight in shieldwalls with the leader in front, and like to face their enemy head on. Vikings are known for their long bearded axes, but they use swords and spears just as often. Most of the time they use big sound wooden shields. They cover them with rawhide and paint them with beautfull paterns and bright colours.

Vikings go to war in their long drakkars. These ships can carry enough vikings to wreak havoc in a city or to support an army as auxilery troops. These ships were light yet sturdy. They can be carried over land if need be and can handle a lot of weight.

The king wields the Gemblade that was gifted to his forefather by King Leo of the Lion Kingdom ages ago.
